Not Quite a Magic Trick

In yesterday’s magic post, I said that complexity leaves places to hide things. I believe the same to be true about the length of a piece of art like a film or book. While being longer allows more plot to be conveyed, it also allows the same amount of plot to be told in a less concise way. This doesn’t mean that long movies are bad, but they are able to hide some poor artistic choices with the sheer quantity of images you see.
